Emily Gould, Gawker and the 20-Something Melodrama

Now that the mainstream media has begun to embrace the Celebrity Blogger Phenomenon with the Emily Gould story on the cover of the New York Times Magazine, it seems timely to ask: Are the post-adolescent break-ups and humiliations that every human experiences in their 20s — even when they’re elegantly written and accompanied by some beautifully lighted photos — somehow more compelling because they’re now broadcast to a mass audience? Um, no.
